I am 43 years old. I graduated from Chernivtsi National University with a degree in Philology, specializing in Ukrainian Language and Literature. In Ukraine, I worked as an educator and teacher. I am currently working as an educator at a school for children with special needs.
What strengths do you need in your work?
When working with children with special educational needs, it is very important to be patient and able to find an approach for each child. Communication skills help build connections with children, parents, and colleagues. Tactfulness allows you to understand a child’s emotional state and support them in difficult moments. What do you do as an educator at Mozaika?
As an educator, I:
- Organize daily educational and developmental activities tailored to the individual abilities and needs of the children.
- Ensure the children’s care, safety, and comfort throughout the day.
- Help children develop daily living skills, social interaction, and communication.
- Use specialized methods and adapted programs to work with children with special educational needs.
- Collaborate with a team of specialists (psychologists, speech therapists, therapists) to provide comprehensive developmental support for the children.
- Maintain communication with parents, conduct meetings, and give recommendations for their children’s development.
- Manage necessary documentation and prepare reports on children’s progress.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I am most inspired by the opportunity to watch children grow, develop, and reach new milestones. Each day brings moments of joy — first words, new skills, small and big achievements. Interacting with children brings incredible emotions, as their sincerity and openness make every day special. I also love knowing that my work has a meaningful impact — I help children find their path, adapt to the world, and become more independent.
What are the main challenges for a young specialist in this role?
For a young specialist, working with young children at Mozaika can be a real challenge, as each child has unique developmental traits, learning pace, and level of independence. One of the main difficulties is finding the right approach for each child — some need more time to adapt, others get distracted easily or require constant support.
Maintaining discipline in the group is also important — you need to organize children so that everyone feels comfortable while following established rules. Young educators often need to balance flexibility and structure, finding ways to engage children in activities without overwhelming them.
Another challenge is emotional resilience. Young children are very emotional, and educators need to remain calm in response to joy, fatigue, or even frustration. However, with experience, these challenges become professional skills that help educators become more confident and effective in their work.
