I’m 24 years old, and I’ve been working at Mozaika School in Almaty for two years. My specialty is Physical Education and Sports, and I studied at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. At the school, I work as an adaptive basketball coach.
What strengths do you need in this job?
First of all, it’s the ability to connect with children and colleagues, since mutual understanding within the team is very important. You also need to be organized and able to plan lessons clearly — this helps make the training process structured and effective.
What do you do as an adaptive basketball coach at Mozaika?
My main responsibilities include:
- Conducting adaptive basketball classes for children with special educational needs.
- Developing individual and group training programs tailored to each child’s abilities.
- Working on coordination, teamwork, and basic basketball skills in an accessible way.
- Creating a comfortable and supportive environment where children can not only play but also enjoy physical activity.
- Collaborating closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to achieve the best developmental outcomes for each child.
- Assessing children’s progress and adjusting training programs according to their needs.
What do you like most about your job?
At Mozaika, all doors are open to knowledge and growth. Here I have the opportunity not only to teach children, but also to constantly improve my own skills with the support of colleagues and leadership. Every day brings new discoveries, and most importantly — the joy, achievements, and progress of the children. This inspires me and gives me the strength to keep going.
What are the main challenges for a young specialist working as an “adaptive basketball coach”?
Of course, if you don’t have experience working with children with special educational needs, it can be difficult at first. But in our school there are excellent specialists who are always ready to help, teach, and support. Here you can quickly gain the necessary knowledge and skills — the most important thing is the desire to learn and work with love.
