I am 25 years old. I studied at NUFSU, specializing in Secondary Education with a focus on Physical Education. I work as an adaptive physical education instructor at Mozaika School for children with special needs in Kyiv.
What strengths do you need in your work?
As an adaptive physical education instructor, patience, empathy, persistence, flexibility, and the ability to adapt your approach to each child are essential. You need to understand the motor development characteristics of children with various educational needs, be attentive to their emotional state, and create an atmosphere of trust. Energy and creativity are also important, as each session is not just about exercises, but an opportunity to turn movement into a fun game that motivates the child.
What do you do as an adaptive physical education instructor at Mozaika?
- I assess each child’s physical condition and determine their movement and corrective needs.
- I design and conduct individual and group adaptive physical education sessions.
- I work on developing children’s motor skills, coordination, strength, and endurance.
- I collaborate with speech therapists, psychologists, and teachers to provide a comprehensive approach to child development.
- I teach children the basics of self-regulation and movement control.
- I adjust the program based on each child’s progress.
- I provide parents with guidance on physical activity for their children at home.
- I participate in the preparation and organization of school events and celebrations.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy the usefulness of my work, physical activity, the positive energy children bring, a great team, and holidays. What inspires me most is the moment when a child does something that once seemed impossible: balancing independently, participating in a game with others, or simply enjoying movement. It’s an incredible feeling to watch fear gradually disappear and confidence emerge. In those moments, I understand that my work truly matters.
What are the main challenges for a young specialist in this role?
High levels of responsibility, testing patience, managing many children while finding individualized approaches for each, and handling documentation.
